Video Services

The two most general types or “styles” of video production are 1) the traditional Scripted Production, and 2) the more spontaneous Live Production. Below is a comparisons of the processes, preparation, and budgeting for each.

I find it helpful to consider borrowing techniques or processes from one style to the other as we walk the delicate balance of budgetary restrictions on one hand, and the need for the highest production value possible on the other.

In a scripted piece, and put together one scene or shot at a time, along with possible narration, music, and graphics, etc. That’s a pretty standard definition of what video production is, after all. Another, simpler approach that might not be a true “production” at all. The Live Production. I do a fair amount of live event video recording—a lecture series at one of the colleges, for example. These lectures usually require no editing at all. They simply capture and clearly document an event. A hybrid approach would be to shoot a presenter in real time, both sound and picture. Then cut away to close-up shots when appropriate, or to edit the audio. Further revisions and even clarifications can also be done as voice-overs in post-production.

Here's a montage that highlights a beautiful Wedding on a fine Summer Day. This piece was to be used for our own internal/demonstration purposes, so we used this beautiful song by Louis Armstrong. Not sure if posting online is permissible, but our intention is the same--purely a piece for demonstration purposes only. Thank you.
